Balatonalmádi
The town is located on the Northern coast with 7 kms of coastline, with the largest beach at our largest lake and 56 hectares of parkland. It is a hilly settlement, with wooded waterfront in some places. Balatonalmádi grew out of four settlements, and they have kept their characteristics. Vörösberény, the “village”, has a strong history and perhaps the most beautiful fortified church in the country. Káptalanfüred is romantic, almost growing out of the forest, and invites you to go hiking. Balatonalmádi is the centre, with restaurants and shops. Budatava is a holiday and sports centre with summer colours. The 2024 competition is organised jointly by the Munincipality of Balatonalmádi, who will also provide the venue for the event.
Solar Boat Races
The aim of the series of competitions like Solar Boat in Europe and Solar Splash in America is to raise awareness of potential uses and developments of renewable energy in shipping.
The teams are made up of university students who are racing with self-created purely electric powered boats operated from solar panels and batteries. The purpose of these competitions is to promote the use of renewable energy sources, modern and quiet drive and energy monitoring systems.
The first race was organised in 2006 in the Netherlands. One of the most prestigious race in Europe is the Energy Boat Challenge in Monaco powered by Solar Sport One. It is worth mentioning that the racing boats are getting faster year by year which clearly shows that more and more advanced technology is used.
The World Cup Series can be considered a series of competitions involving many prestigious universities of Europe, surrounded by significant infrastructure, support base, media and reputation. Of course, these competitions are not only visited by the racing teams, but by boat and watercraft sports lovers, investors, business people and many other participants as well, from youth to older generation.
The Lake Balaton is a popular summer resort, it is frequented and all the necessary infrastructure – accommodation, restaurants, conference centers are available as well as frequent public transport.
